But even now only a well to do family can afford a dakmanda . The word "nengti" also does not exist in the garo language. The piece of cloth worn by garo men is called "lengti" not nengti. Also we traditionally prefer to call ourselves "A'chiks" though the word "GARO" is official.notice the aphostrophe i have given though if written its a elevated dot(called raka in garo) not aphostrophe so pronounced(because of the raka) "Ah!chik" In the fourth paragraph, we do dry the trunks of banana plants and burn them to create "kalchi" or salt ash.
