estate.
Abdul Karim Ghaznavi was a member of the Imperial Legislative Council for the period 1909-1916, representing the Muslims of the province of Eastern Bengal and Assam (annulled in 1912). He was also a member of the Governor General's Council as a representative of the Muslims of Bengal. He played an important role in Bengal politics during 1923-1929. At that time Ghaznavi was a member of the Bengal Legislative Council. On 12 March 1927, the Governor of Bengal made him a minister. He toured Syria, Palestine, Egypt and Saudi Arabia as an envoy of the British Raj. Ghaznavi strongly supported the idea of a separate electorate
for Muslims in the Round Table Conference. The British government conferred on him the title of 'Nawab Bahadur'. Among his several books on different aspects of the Muslims, Moslem Education in Bengal is noteworthy. Abdul Karim died in 1939. [Golam Kibria
