Phultala Upazila (khulna district) with an area of 56.83 sq km, is bounded by abhaynagar upazila on the north and west, dumuria upazila on the south, khanjahan ali upazila and Abhaynagar upazila on the east.

Phultala (Town) consists of 4 mouzas. The area of the town is 13.91 sq km. It has a population of 27078; male 51.16%, female 48.84%; density of population is 1946 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 47.3%. The town has one dakbungalow.

Administration Phultala thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 3 union parishads, 18 mouzas, 25 villages.
