Rahman, Ataur (1925-1999) poet and literary critic, was born in the district of bogra. He obtained his MA from Dhaka University. Though he did not actively participate in politics, he was attracted to leftist ideas. His poems reflect his socialistic concerns. Among his poetical works are Dui Rtu (1956), Ekdin Pratidin (1963), Nisad Nagare Achhi (1977), Bhalobasa Chirashatru (1981), Idaning Rangamancha (1992), Sarata Jiban Dhare (1994), Bhalobasa O Tarpar. His principal critical writings are on kazi nazrul islam: Kavi Nazrul (1968), Nazrul Kavya Samiksa (1972), Nazrul Jibane Prem O Bibaha (1997). He also wrote about modern bangla literature in Adhunik Bangla Sahityer Sangksipta Itihas (1963).
