Srikrishnavijay  a verse narrative by maladhar basu. The story is based on the tenth and the eleventh chapters of the Sanskrit Bhagavata, a book of philosophy on hinduism and an account of the life of krishna. Srikrishnavijay has a detailed account of the life of Krishna, beginning with his birth continuing till his death. Maladhar Basu mingled elements from the puranas (legend) and folk tale with the original text and this has made the piece an original poetical work.

Sri Krishna descended on earth in his avatar (incarnation) to save a world infested by vice and evil. He killed the despotic king Kangsa, who was his maternal uncle, as well as accomplices which included daemons, men and ferocious animals. The work describes Krishna's lila (dalliance) in three parts-Vrindavan, Mathura and Dwaraka. At each stage, he had to fight against evil. In the battle of Dwaraka, the Yadu dynasty, along with Dwaraka Palace, was destroyed.

Maladhar Basu made Sri Krishna a hero and a symbol of Hinduism opposing the dominant Muslim power. Srikrishnavijay deals with the erotic play of Krishna while jaydev's Gitagovindam, a work written two centuries earlier, and srikrishnakirtan, a work by baru chandidas composed a hundred years earlier, speak of devotion; Sri chaitanya was born twelve years after Srikrishnavijay was written and liked the work very much.
